On the afternoon of October 16, the parallel forum "Gathering wisdom to serve the future: the voices of global high-level think tanks" of the 2019 ZGC Forum (Zhongguancun Forum) was held successfully at the Exhibition Center of Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone. 

This parallel forum was hosted by Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, Institutes of Science and Development of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Innovation Strategy. Beijing Science and Technology Strategic Decision-making Consulting Center (Beike Think Tank) was the organizer. Famous think tanks from 6 countries including China, Japan, Israel, Russia, Germany, and Norway, and 20 international renowned think tank experts, comprehensively discussed on the theme of “R & D globalization and high-quality transformation", so as to provide new concepts, new viewpoints, and new ideas for the high-quality development of Beijing’s economy, and contribute global wisdom for building the national center for science and technology innovation of China. More than 160 people including domestic and foreign experts and scholars, government officials, business representatives and media reporters attended the forum. 

The first session of the forum was presided over by Fang Li, Party Secretary of Beijing Academy of Science and Technology. He extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the guests. Du Feijin, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Director-General of the Communication Department, Zhang Qin, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, former deputy secretary and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, and Hu Zhijian, president of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, attended the forum and delivered speeches. 

Think tanks are valuable resources for a country and a nation. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have made a series of important arrangements for building a new type of think tanks with Chinese characteristics, as well as for establishing and improving the decision-making consultation system. They pointed out the positioning and mission, direction and path, and the whole picture and development concept of China's think tank construction. China's think tank development has ushered in a golden period of historic opportunity for development. This parallel forum "Gathering Wisdom to Serve the Future: the Voices of Global High-level Think Tanks” of Zhongguancun Forum, with the focus on the new missions, new requirements, and new tasks of the current development of science and technology, plans and promotes the construction of a national science and technology innovation center from a global perspective, and boosts the collaboration and effective interaction of global think tanks. Therefore, it provides international experience and policy reference for Beijing to build a science and technology innovation center with global influence, which will promote the construction of science and technology innovation center across China.
